How to build a successful website
The best work at home business...hands down...is an online business (a website) of your own. To create a successful business online you will of course need the technical stuff like a template, hosting, domain, and a way to get traffic to your site. Is that all it takes to be successful online?
No, in fact it takes much more. If you apply a few simple skills...you can be more successful in life...and more successful in your online business.
1. Time - You must learn to manage your time wisely. You want to spend quality time building your website, but don't let it take over to the point that you aren't spending time with your family or taking some time off to rest. Quality over quantity is the key. Plan out your work ahead of time so that you don't spend too long planning, researching and creating content each day.
2. Love - Love what you do...if you create a website based around something you know, or something that you are passionate about, it will definitely shine through. On the other hand if you have no interest in what you are writing about or selling, that will be evident as well.
3. Do not fear failure - How do you overcome the fear of failure? By working consistently and taking things step-by-step you will have small successes. These are not overwhelming...you will have your first visitor, your first dollar made, the day you receive 100 visitors in a single day...taken one at time these things show progress...success is the natural outcome. Success is getting up one more time than you fall down...which leads to the next item.
4. Consistency - Don't spend a month working on your website, 10 hours a day, and then get tired and stop for several months. It is better to work 2 hours a day and consistently add new content. As you continually update your site and add new content, your site will be ranked higher, which will bring more traffic.
5. Getting past obstacles - Henry Ford once said "Obstacles are those frightening things you see when you take your eyes off your goal." That is exactly correct. If you continue to move toward your goal, you will reach your destination. Maybe something comes up that can't be helped...and it takes you 3 months instead of 2 to reach your current goal...that is fine, as long as you continue to move forward...baby steps are OK.
6. Sharing - Share your work with family and friends, colleagues, social circles...anyone you can!
If you apply these skills to your business you will be well rewarded. Treat your business like a relationship...build it consistently with love and share your pride and happiness with those you know...and you will be very successful.
