My Modern Masters Metallic Paint Review

Back a few months ago, I was the winner of the Modern Masters prize for being their 5000th "like" on Facebook.  Boy, was I excited!  I mean I love to paint, especially furniture that needs love, so of course I was giddy to receive $250 of product of my choosing.  You can read all about my treasure here.
At the time, I was pregnant and it was the dead of winter (like -12 degree highs), so I wasn't doing much furniture.  I would walk out to my stash pondering which piece would be blessed enough to receive the makeover.

I had just picked one out and it was warming up, but then baby came 6 weeks early.  Surprise!!  So happy to have her with us.

So, after a baby break, I can finally say that I LOOOOVE Modern Masters metallic paints!!!
Take a look at this cherry library/console table...
Not in too bad of shape with outdated drawer pulls, nicks and scratches to the top, but sound as can be.  AND those legs...I adore the curvy Queen Anne style...so elegant.
After a face-lift, I decided to replace those pulls with a couple of antique etched glass pulls that were left over from this dressing table makeover.  Just some wood putty in the existing holes, and drilled a couple new ones.
The whole table got two coats of warm silver, but I didn't stop there (although stunning as is).  To give the table bit more definition, I whitewashed the skirt, drawers and legs, leaving some silver to peek out and the top to shine.
Added the pulls to finish it off, and VIOLA!
Just gorgeous...sigh...
My next project was a French Provincial Bassett side table.
This was also already in great shape except for wear to the top.  Sanded it down and got started with more of the warm silver.
For the sides and legs I chose a metallic teal to really set off that fabulous silver.

The pulls were beautiful left untouched and compliment the colors well, don't you think?

To jazz it up a bit, I added some silver touches to the trim and gave the legs a "dipped" effect.  All topped off with a semi-gloss poly, which they included plus a satin too as an added gift - eek!
So pretty, isn't it?  You can purchase this one in my shop.
Now, I mainly choose the metallic paints for my prize, but Modern Masters also offers plenty of other products to choose from, including their metal effects that have a wonderful reactive property that can cause the tiny bits of metals in the paint to get a patina like this..

...can you believe that is done with paint?!

That is next on my list!!  Thank you, Modern Masters!  On to the next project...stay tuned!
